After suffering from a prolonged drought Niger was hit by flooding due to heavy rains continued for a few days. The people are already starving because of the drought, but now the misery doubles due to the flood damages.
According to the United Nations more than seven million people are facing starvation and this flood will damage the little amount of crops that survived.
Before the rain there's nearly no food or very small amount of food which have been washed away due to the heavy rains.
Last week, the UN announced a further 15 million dollars (12 million euros) for World Food Programme operations in Niger though its not sufficient to repair the damages.
